How Online Training Works
Four stages. One continuous process.

A simple coaching journey that moves from understanding your starting point to building, reviewing and progressing your programme.

Step 01

Detailed lifestyle assessment

We begin by understanding your training history, nutrition habits, stress, recovery, lifestyle and goals. The objective is to establish where you are now and what needs to change.

Step 02

Personalised programme design

Your coach builds a structured training plan and tailored nutrition strategy around your goals, lifestyle and available equipment. Nothing is copied from a generic template.

Step 03

Weekly review & support

You record your training, nutrition and agreed metrics. Your coach reviews the information each week, provides written feedback and makes adjustments. Exercise videos can be submitted for technique feedback.

Step 04

Continuous progression

Your programme is typically refreshed every 3–5 weeks, or sooner where necessary. Training and nutrition evolve as your performance, body and circumstances change.

Online Training FAQ

Questions before you start?

Clear answers to the practical questions people often have before choosing online personal training.

Is online personal training worth it?
It can be, particularly when the main barrier is not knowing what exercise is good for you but finding the time and headspace to plan, track and adjust it consistently. The value comes from having a clear system, regular review and expert guidance while you train independently.
Is online training as effective as in-gym personal training?
The main difference is supervision. In-gym coaching allows your trainer to observe the session live and make immediate adjustments. Online coaching is more independent, but the programming, progression and review process can still be highly personalised. It is best suited to people who are comfortable training on their own and willing to follow the process consistently.
How quickly will I see results?
Many people notice early changes in areas such as training performance, energy or body composition within the first few weeks, but the pace of change varies. Meaningful transformation depends on your starting point, consistency, recovery, nutrition and the goal itself. Regular reviews help keep the plan moving in the right direction.
Why don't you offer live video training for every session?
Because online coaching is designed around flexible independent training. Instead of requiring every coaching interaction to happen on a scheduled video call, the emphasis is placed on programme quality, data review, written feedback and practical adjustments. You can train when your schedule allows while still having a clear coaching process behind you.
How long should I commit to online personal training?
Online coaching can begin from one month, but a longer commitment is generally more useful when the goal is meaningful behaviour change, measurable progress and a sustainable routine. A three-month starting period gives enough time to establish habits, gather useful data and make several rounds of programme adjustments.
How long do clients typically stay?
There is no fixed end point. Some people use online coaching to achieve a defined goal, while others continue because they value having an evolving training and wellbeing system. After an initial period, coaching can continue on an ongoing basis as goals, lifestyle and performance change.
03 — About
The background behind the coaching

I am Omar Boothman — a performance and wellbeing coach based in Palmers Green, North London, currently working as an Active Lifestyle Trainer within Sports and Leisure Services at Imperial College London, Prince's Gardens, SW7.

My background is intentionally broad — and that breadth is the advantage I bring to every client and every organisation I work with. Most coaches come from fitness alone. I come from fitness, higher education, specialist teaching, project administration and institutional operations. That means I understand how universities and professional organisations actually work: how they procure services, how departments are structured, how budgets are managed and what safeguarding and compliance requirements look like in practice. I can navigate that world because I have lived and worked in it — and I can deliver results within it that an outside contractor simply cannot.

My specialist coaching disciplines span strength and conditioning, calisthenics, boxing, jujitsu, yoga, mobility and dance. This combination allows me to design varied, progressive programmes for a wide range of clients — from sedentary desk workers to experienced athletes, from young people building confidence for the first time to older adults focused on maintaining strength and independence. I hold a Level 3 Personal Training and Instruction qualification and have delivered coaching at Nuffield Health Princess Park Manor, Imperial College London and independently across North London.

Before moving into coaching and higher education sport, I spent four years as a Teaching Assistant at Woodside High School, White Hart Lane, London N22, specialising in supporting young people with specific learning difficulties. The depth of that experience went well beyond what many senior practitioners encounter: I worked one-to-one with young people in local authority care, co-authoring individual year-long learning and development plans from Year 8 onward. We set an overarching aim for each young person, defined clear milestones, tracked long-term progress and — crucially — celebrated every small achievement along the way. All of this was held within a consistently positive framework, even through the most difficult periods, and was bound together with physical education as a tool for engagement, confidence-building and emotional regulation. This level of long-term, structured, pastoral planning goes beyond what most senior practitioners are ever exposed to.

This work profoundly shaped how I coach today. The patience, the structure, the long-term thinking and the belief in every individual's capacity for progress — all of it is present in every session I deliver, regardless of the client.

I also bring significant experience working with older adults and individuals of retirement age, providing practical, realistic exercise guidance focused on staying healthy, strong and active over the long term. I understand that fitness looks different at different stages of life, and I design accordingly — always accessible, always respectful of ability, and always grounded in what will genuinely improve someone's day-to-day quality of life.

I hold a BA Honours in Drama and Theatre Production from Middlesex University, Trent Park, and carry extensive professional experience in administration and project coordination — including corporate induction delivery, IBM Maximo project management systems, and facilities operations for Sodexo and the Diageo estate in London NW10. I was also the designated Green Travel Coordinator in that role, leading on corporate recycling and sustainability policy across the site.

The Method
Movement with purpose.
Built around you.
Every programme begins with a full assessment of your movement, goals and lifestyle — not a template.
Sessions progress logically — building strength, mobility and confidence in parallel.
Recovery, nutrition awareness and lifestyle factors are woven into the coaching — not treated as extras.
Results are tracked, reviewed and celebrated — keeping you motivated across the full programme.
04 — The Advantage
Two languages. One specialist.

Most trainers speak to clients. Most administrators speak to institutions. Omar speaks both — which means he can navigate procurement, manage programmes end to end, and deliver genuine transformation within the same engagement. That combination is rare, and it underpins everything offered here.

Imperial College London credibility and genuine inside knowledge of how higher education operates — its structures, its procurement routes and its people
Institutional fluency: budget cycles, safeguarding compliance, scheduling constraints and inter-departmental working are all familiar territory — not obstacles
Boxing, jujitsu, calisthenics and dance — a genuinely rare combination of disciplines that keeps programmes varied, progressive and motivating across all fitness levels
Four years of specialist SEN teaching, including long-term one-to-one planning for young people in care — pastoral and behavioural depth few coaches can match
Specialist experience coaching older adults and individuals of retirement age — practical, ability-appropriate guidance focused on quality of life and independence
Yoga, mobility and recovery expertise designed specifically for desk-based knowledge workers managing the physical cost of modern professional life
Project coordination, IBM Maximo systems, induction delivery and facilities administration — capable of managing programmes completely, not just delivering sessions
North London base with Russell Group universities, NHS trusts, law firms and professional institutions within easy reach across London
